Can you feel as if you belong to Jerusalem even if you were not born there or even live there? Psalm 87 answers, “yes!” This soaring description of Zion puts the site at the center of a pilgrim’s identity and more, at the center of the world. Distinctly, Jerusalem in our tradition is more than a place, it is a beloved for whom we long and from whom we take rejoicing.
