Psalm 141

In Psalm 141, the Psalmist calls on God to receive his prayers as incense in the Temple, wafting pleasantly upward. And yet, the Psalmist key concern is that the wicked will shape his words, perhaps as blasphemy or how he treats others. The Psalmist seeks God’s aid in placing a guard at his lips, along with the aid of others- “let the righteous strike and chastise me,” comparing such rebuke to fine oil.
