PASSOVER AT CBI

We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and Adonai our God took us out of there, with a strong hand and an
outstretched arm. Had not the Holy One taken out our ancestors from Egypt, know that we and our
children and grandchildren would still be enslaved to Pharaoh in Egypt. And even if we were all scholars,
sages or elders, even if we knew all of the Torah, it would still be a requirement for us to tell the story of the
Exodus from Egypt.

From the Haggadah: Avadim Hayyinu (“We Were Slaves”)

Chag Semeach!

Wednesday, April 5, 2023 – Thursday, April 13, 2023

Once we were slaves, so we know the importance of freedom for all people.  The eight-day festival  of Passover provides us  with an opportunity to examine our history, retell our story of liberation, and learn why Jews have, since our earliest beginnings, been at the forefront of the struggle for human dignity.

Women’s Club Chocolate Seder

Sunday, March 26, 2023

Every year at Passover, families hold Seders, retelling the story of the hardships the Jewish people faced in their escape from slavery to freedom. Prior to our search for chametz, the chocolate Seder hosted by CBI’s Women’s Club will be a special way to get ready for Passover, and reminds us that freedom is sweet. Invite your family as we walk through the steps of the Seder, substituting sweets for the traditional Passover foods.  Your  Seder Kit will include your very own CHOCOLATE Seder plate (~1lb of chocolate) and representative Seder plate symbols (which includes chocolate and other sweets). There will be a few other surprises as well! Register no later than Thursday, March 23.

If you are a registered member of Women’s Club, you will receive an email about a discounted ticket price. Please contact us if you do not receive this email, if you would like to join Women’s Club, or have any questions about the event at: cbiwomensclub@gmail.com.

CBI Community Seder

April 6, 20236PM

Pesach (Passover) is the most observed holiday in contemporary Jewish life, bringing together an ever-relevant story and a meal rich in symbolism, family, and food.   As a community we will commemorate the timeless story of Passover with gratitude and joy, and celebrate our shared freedom.

Mehirat Chametz (Selling of the Chametz)

Please fill out THIS ONLINE FORM by April 3rd

Hametz is the product of any grain that can rise-traditionally understood to include anything made of wheat, oats, barley, spelt, or rye

In preparation for Passover, we purge our homes of even the smallest crumb of hametz, scouring our pots and pans, and replacing our ordinary dishes. This total transformation of our diets and kitchens is another profound way, we reenact our journey from slavery to freedom.
