How do I register for camp?
You can go to www.cbi18.org/camp-bnai-ruach to receive the registration form. You can then follow the steps to fill it out and send it to hcoulter@cbi18.org.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, Visa or Mastercard.
What are your hours?
Our hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:00am-4:00pm and Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm.
Do you have extended care?
Yes, we provide extended care from 7:30am – 9:00am and 4:00pm or 5:00pm (Thursdays only) – 6:00pm.
Do you accept children with special needs?
Diverse activities and creative expression will provide an exciting and nurturing atmosphere that promotes warmth, community and personal growth for all our campers, including those with special needs. We have had children with hearing loss, autism, down syndrome, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, and more attend our camp.
What do you do for children who are not water safe?
At the beach children that are not water safe are kept at the shore line or on the sand. At the pool children that are not water safe stay in the shallow end with life jackets on. At any place with water staff is with those that are not water safe.
How do you communicate with parents?
We mainly communicate through email. During camp we also provide a weekly newsletter that has all the information that you will need. We will also call if there are questions or emergencies. Throughout each camp day we are available by cell phone.
What is your staff ratio?
Camp B’nai Ruach aligns its staff ratios with the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA recommends 1 staff for every 8 campers for children up to 9 years old and 1 staff for every 10 campers for 9-14 year olds. There are times that are ratios are better than this as well.
Are the kids divided into groups and if so how are they divided?
The children are divided by grade level with the following groups; TK/K-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-9 (CIT program).
What is your food policy?
Any food consumed during camp can be dairy or non-dairy (pareve) products, no meat is allowed.
Do you provide snack?
We provide a snack on Mondays and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the children can bring money to buy a snack or bring their own. On Wednesdays the campers can bring their own snack.
What type of transportation do you use?
We use a school bus from a reputable company. Most if not all busses have seat belts.
What is the weekly and daily schedule?
Each day starts with songs and prayers and ends with songs.
Mondays are on campus all day. The mornings are usually indoor activities based on the theme. After lunch camp moves outdoors and ends the day with movies, games, and snacks.
Tuesdays are at the beach all day. The campers have supervised play, then lunch, then more play. Before we head back we stop by the snack bar and some children change out of swimsuits as well.
Wednesdays camp spends about two hours at a local establishment playing and having fun. We then travel to the pool and have lunch. After lunch we swim and have a snack before we head back to camp.
Thursdays camp spends the whole time at a local business of amusement (Knott’s, OC Fair, etc).
Fridays are on campus all day. The mornings are indoor and outdoor activities based on the theme. After lunch a special guest or activity based on the weekly theme entertains us. We end the day with more games and social time.
What is your sunscreen policy?
We ask that every child bring his/her own sunscreen. TK/K through 6th grade campers have a staff member of the same sex apply sunscreen. 7th-9th graders apply their own sunscreen with staff supervision. Sunscreen is applied before any outdoor activity and again at least every two hours we are outdoors.
What does my child have to bring to camp?
Each camper needs to bring sunscreen, lunch, and water every day. We usually suggest that they bring this in a backpack. On beach days they will also bring a towel and anything else they need for the beach. On Wednesdays they will bring a towel and swim goggles. Each week a newsletter will state what is needed for each camp day.
Are there scholarships?
