This coming Shabbat morning we will celebrate our new Shabbat siddur. This prayer book contains hundreds of insightful and uplifting commentaries and transliterations. This siddur is similar in format to our High Holyday prayer book, which has received rave reviews. We are grateful for this most recent gift to our community from Barbara and Joe Baim and their family foundation in loving memories of Roz Baim, David Marmor, and Bert Adler.
Last week, I listened to a conference call with Rabbi Ed Feld, the chief editor of the new prayer book, called Siddur Lev Shalem. He described the many years that he and his committee worked together to provide the familiar words in a user friendly format, along with a diversity of reflections placed on the margins that describe the origins of the prayer and their meaning to us. His hope, he shared, was to refresh and enliven our prayer experience.
Please join us on Shabbat when we will pray from our new siddur and honor the anniversary of Joe Baim’s bar mitzvah. We will also celebrate the 90th birthday of Larry Wayne, who for years with his wife, Mimi, has led our Torah study group (Parashat HaShavua).
Blessings, Elie
